IP address and DNS server addresses are assigned automatically by the DHCP.
Service setup
First, find a hot spot, which is a location where you can connect to the O2 Hot Spot service. Now, just enter the proper settings into your computer. Choose "O2" as the selected network in your device's wireless connection software, then change your wireless connection type to "access point" or infrastructure." Open your Internet browser, type any URL in your browser's address bar, and you will automatically be directed to the O2 Hot Spot startup page.
Once you have reached the O2 Hot Spot startup page, enter your username and password. You will have already obtained this information in one of the following ways:
- from an O2 Hot Spot O2 prepaid coupon (use the first ten digits of your coupon number as the username, and the last four digits as the password)
- from an SMS sent by O2 (valid for existing O2 customers)
- from your monthly invoice for O2 Hot Spot services (valid for all customers who wish to use the service on an ongoing basis)
After entering a valid username and password, you will immediately be connected to the Internet.
The O2 Hot Spot service transfers all data transparently so you can use all standard protocols (HTTP, POP3, IMAP4, SMTP, FTP, IPsec, etc.)
Easy access
To access the O2 Hot Spot service, you need a device that supports the IEEE 802.11b standard and has WiFi certification. This group includes a full range of notebooks and PDAs – identifiable by e.g. the WiFi logo. If your notebook or pocket computer does not support the 802.11b standard, you can use this service with a number of expansion devices (e.g. PC cards, USB peripheries, SC or CF cards). To get connected set the SSID parameter to CZO2.
The O2 Hot Spot service is not bound to the use of mobile services from Telefónica Czech Republic.

Logging into a Hot Spot
Choose from several options of logging on the one that suits you the most.
Logging in if you have signed a contract for a monthly tariff (applies to all who are interested in the service)
You can request service activation at any O2 Shop. Then sign your contract, in which the monthly fee for your selected tariff program is specified..
You will be billed for the service through monthly invoices. Current O2 contract customers will see the charge for using the service listed separately on their regular monthly statements. If you are a currently an O2 contract customer, your password for access to the O2 Hot Spot service will be sent to you via SMS. Your username is your nine-digit GSM phone number. Usernames (virtual phone number) and passwords will be sent via post to users who are not O2 contract customers.
Logging in via SMS (applies to current customers)
This method of ordering and paying for the O2 Hot Spot service is meant for short-term connection to the service.
Simply send an SMS with the keyword WIFI 1, WIFI 2, or WIFI 24 for the corresponding number of hours of connectivity to the phone number 999 509. You'll receive a temporary username and password, which you will need to enter at the O2 Hot Spot login page..
The cost of the SMS will be added to your regular monthly invoice. If you're an O2 prepaid customer, the cost will be deducted from your credit.
Logging in using an O2 prepaid voucher (valid for anyone interested in the service)
O2 Hot Spot can also be used with a prepaid O2 voucher. To access the service use the fourteen-digit code on the O2 prepaid coupon as your username and password:
- Scratch off the protective field on the back of the O2 prepaid coupon
- Enter the first 10 digits as your username (without spaces)
- Enter the remaining four digits as your password
- You can enter these repeatedly until you use up all of your prepaid connection time

What is a Hot Spot?
The term Hot Spot is used to label the location of a WiFi access point that is available in a public place.
What does the O2 Hot Spot service offer?
O2 Hot Spot provides wireless Internet connection at home for your personal computer or notebook - at high speeds of up to 512 kbps. To do this, O2 makes the most modern technology available in selected regions. You'll especially appreciate O2 Hot Spot's fast transmission speeds when surfing the Internet, doing email, downloading music and video, playing online games, and when you need to work at home and download large amounts of data (e.g. when connecting to your company's intranet).
I would like to use your WiFi connection. Do I have to be your customer?
You do not have to. You simply need to buy a prepaid O2 voucher and be in a location that is covered by one of our transmitters. Just enter in the number on the voucher into the appropriate field on the login details page and you’ll be connected connected.
What do I need to use O2 Hot Spot?
- You need a notebook or personal computer (PC) with a free "PCI slot."
- You need to be in an area covered by the O2 Hot Spot signal. A list of access points is available here, or you can call the Customer Care Center at 800 33 00 11 to get this information.
- Your notebook or PC must be equipped with a WiFi device in combination with a PCI or PCMCIA card (or, if absolutely necessary, with a USB adapter) that facilitates connection to the external aerial.
Where should I start if I want to sign up for this service?
You can find information about signal accessibility, prices, and connection options at www.wifijet.cz. Our specialists at the Customer Care Center ( 800 33 00 11) will be happy to assist you as well.
- First, you need to find out if the O2 Hot Spot signal is accessible from the place where you would like to use the service.

- If you are within O2 Hot Spot signal range, please call 800 33 00 11. The operator will ask for your address and telephone number. A representative of the installation company will contact you within 48 hours. This firm will carry out all necessary measurements in cooperation with O2.
- If you already own a device that will connect you to O2 Hot Spot, you can measure signal accessibility on your own. Simply set up the device and enter the O2 Hot Spot service parameters.
- To use the service, you need to own a PCI device, PCMCIA card, or USB adapter

- When carrying out their measurements, the installation company will offer you a suitable WiFi device and will install it with your consent. (Price depends on the selected device and the time it takes to install it.)
- You can also purchase the WiFi device on your own. The device must be approved for operation in the Czech Republic and it must adhere to all limits of permitted broadcasting output as set by the O2munication Office. O2 bears no responsibility for violation of these laws. Furthermore, the device needs to support the proper standards.
- If you wish to purchase and install the WiFi device on your own, you must install a card into your computer (following the manufacturer's manual), connect the external aerial within direct sight lines of the access point (without obstacles), and connect to the aerial with a PC card. To set up the device, use the O2 Hot Spot service parameters.
- Once the WiFi device is installed, choose a method of logging on to the O2 Hot Spot service. Sign in using your username and password, which you will receive upon signing a contract for provision of O2 Hot Spot service.
You do not have to use O2 mobile services in order to use the O2 Hot Spot service.
