What the CED service offers
The service offers typical customer end-user devices by Cisco Systems and Nortel Networks and their installation at the customer's premises. These devices provide the interface between the WAN data link and the customer LAN at a specific location. Under a comprehensive custom-made communication solution, the CED service also offers the delivery of specialized equipment, such as firewalls and encrypting equipment.
Target users
Cisco end-user devices are especially for customers who use the basic functions of Voice over Frame Relay or Voice over IP for their data traffic. Also, Cisco end-user devices are suitable as end-user devices for a LAN fixed Internet connection.
Nortel end-user devices are for rather large private networks, with an emphasis on the integration of data services (Direct, Frame Relay, and ATM), voice, and video.
Service benefits
-
comprehensive outsourcing of communication solutions for large data networks
-
complete solutions for WANs from the LAN interface at one location to the LAN interface at other locations
-
as an option, the CED output interface can be an interface connecting the telephone exchanges at a number of the company's locations
-
savings in terms of both capital and operating costs of data network administration, management, and development, because if you use the CED service, the entire WAN, including the end-user device, is delivered as a comprehensive solution by one supplier with clearly defined and guaranteed operating parameters
Connection with other services
Together with other Telefónica Czech Republic services, the CED service is a comprehensive solution with a great utility value. It represents an supplement to access services such as ATM, Frame Relay, UTP, and Direct and, together with these, is a tool for creating comprehensive custom-made networks. The data network allows Frame Relay service connection lines to be combined with high-speed ATM connection lines and provides clear data transmission between those lines. This combination of services, together with the CED service, enables them to be used according to the customer's actual needs in different parts of the network, and allows for upgrading to a higher speed as soon as the demand increases. The CED service includes delivery and installation at the customer's premises, plus permanent follow-up monitoring and servicing. The CED service can also be used as the end-user device for Internet access together with INTERNET services, and as the data and voice integrator for the Voice VPN service.
Pricing
With respect to the high degree of complexity of the service and variability in meeting the customer's needs, we recommend that customers always consult our experts, who will analyze their telecommunications needs and prepare a detailed quotation based on this analysis.
Limits with respect to the size of customers using the CED service
Considering the wide range of devices provided, the CED service is suitable for customers ranging from the heads of households and one-man companies, using ISDN over commuted links, for example, to the largest banking or public sector clients that use comprehensive solutions involving tens to thousands of operating customer end-user devices. Basically, the size of the customer is not a limiting factor.
