Since 2002 O2 Foundation has supported hundreds of disadvantaged people and charitable projects, while initiating and implementing several separate programs.
Our corporate foundation is committed to the development of children and young people. It brings the benefits of communication technology in various forms even to people for whom they would otherwise be inaccessible (through the Line for the Deaf and Blind, Line for the Elderly, Safety Line, for instance). And it gives our employees the opportunity to participate in a wide range of volunteer activities (blood donation, teambuilding for a good cause, internal fundraising etc.).
Together with our foundation, we see in young people the hope and future of the whole Czech society. That is why the O2 Foundation has always pursued the same goal since its establishment – to support children and young people in the Czech Republic in their development, taking into account their current needs. It contributes to the development of the society as a whole and helps it prepare for the future. The future lies not only in technology, but above all in the way the new generation can use it.
O2 Smart School
Following O2's long-term activities in the field of education on cyber safety and on the grounds of a society-wide debate on the need for change in the Czech education system, we focused the O2 Foundation's main program line on supporting digital literacy in Czech society, especially children.
After the pilot phase, which we implemented in 2018 in selected schools from various regions of the Czech Republic, in 2019 we managed to start the O2 Smart School program. It includes, among other things, a comprehensive reference website www.o2chytraskola.cz. Free of charge, all teachers or parents can draw quality information and guidance on how to develop children's digital literacy and give them a positive experience with modern technology.
In the spring of 2019, we announced the first year of a comprehensive grant program for primary schools in the Czech Republic:
- 2019-2020 - 68 schools were selected for funding (CZK 4,968,857).
- 2020-2021 - 74 schools were selected for funding (CZK 4,534,978).
Methodological guidance and the expert guarantee for the program O2 Smart School: the Faculty of Education of Palacký University in Olomouc, Masaryk University in Brno and the organization People in Need.
Under the patronage of the Ministry of Education.
